Anyone know where to dispose of old gas? I know you can take oil to the auto parts store, but they don't take gasoline. Thanks!

If you have an automobile with a V8 you can just burn it up in there. That's what I do with all the gas I siphon out of any 2 stroke motors, except I have an inline 6 in my truck.

Seriously, 1976? Don't tease me! ;) If the boat won't run on it, I don't think I would want to put it in the truck, then I might have two engines that I could use as paperweights! :D

I'll be the first to admit I do some ridiculous things, but I've used gas that's almost 2 years old. Just this week actually.

You could always burn it, as in a big fire. Or let it evaporate over time...

I don't know of anyone who would take old gas.

Maybe I'll fill up the boss's tank for him. Haha.

I use mine in my 53 Ford tractor. Smokes alittle, but runs good. The gas is probably still good, just might have lost some octane.

Check with your local City...
My brother had 30 gallons of old gas to get rid of in Chicago, and they have a recyceling center for hazerdous materials, INCLUDING GAS.

....Also... Check your yellow pages.
Just this afternoon, I needed to get rid of 600 Gallongs of Diesel fuell out of a generater at work that we need to ship. Called a company that recycles fuels and they are coming out to pump it out for FREE, cause they will make money off the fuel.

Now... what I did at home...

Another brother local to me had 10 gallons of 2cyl to get rid of... and I had my burn pile that needed to be lit..

I'm a pyrotechnician,... Dumped the gas on the pile, ran out 30 foot of sticky wick (black powder inside of tape for quick fireworks fusing)
lit the end and took a liesurely walk back to the house, grabbed the camera and watched the mushroom cloud go up about a minute later.

Now... note:.. If you don't have a way of REMOTE lighting a lot of gas.. you are going to get severly burned. As I watched that fuse get to the fuel, anyone within 20 feet away would have been seriously hurt.

Check with your local landfill. I know mine accepts 10 gallons of fuel at a time. I just put it in 2 5 gallon buckets.

Pete30, I had the same problem, add a gallon or two to each tank of gas, your engine will never know the difference. I did this with a 50:1 gas/oil mix in a 135,000 mile Ford Tuurus and it still passed the tough New York State emissions test. :)

2 stroke fuel may run o/k in a fuel injected vehicle but eventually residue from the oil will cause problems. Dilute it down with fresh fuel and run it in a carburetted engine (4 stroke car or boat)

I used 1 year old gas from the baot in my 2002 Maxima. :)
Have another 5 years of warrantee on Maxima. Just didn't feel like screwing up the carb on the boat. The gas had "Sta-Bil" in it, so the car ran just fine.

Just my story :)

Lots of people dilute old 50:1 fuel to about 150-200:1 and run it in their carbed 4 stroke engines. . . lawnmowers, sno-blowers, tractors, older cars, etc. I know of no engine damage caused by this practice.

I wouldn't put it in a car just before emissions inspection, though. :D

Thanks everyone, the lawnmower is a great idea, weedwacker, edger. Turns out I only have about 5 gallons sitting in the tank. I think I'll pump out some of it and refill the tank with fresh gas.
