I recently ordered a new motoguide wireless trolling motor and to be honest I have had a horrible experience, and am looking for a little advice on how to handle my situation. First of all I ordered the motor from Iboats and it showed up in the factory box without a mounting plate or screws I contacted motorguide and was told it would be at least fourweeks, so then with a little arm twisting, I-boats took opened a new box and sent me the plate from their. Then we went ahead and mounted the plate, and when we went to adjust the motor height the adjustment knob and screw were cross threaded and ruined. Called motorguide again and was told that it would take at lease four weeks to get the now collar and screw to me, and then I would have to remove the head and rewire and solder the thing myself. My other option was to send the motor back for refund. I chose to wait out the part, and headed to the hardware store to jimmy rig it myself so I wouldnt be without a troller motor for the peak fishing season here in montana. Well today I get a call and am told that they cant find a dealer who is willing to ship the part to me under warranty and that motorguide is not able to do it themselves, now what? Man I hate corporate america, anybody have any ideas on how to proceed?

"I" would get my money back and buy a Minn-Kota. I just cant believe that a company as big as Motorguide cant mail you the replacement parts. Just dont make any sense.

I agree with Rudy. I could tell you some horror stories about Motor Guide but it looks like you already know.

The manufacturer's Customer Service department can not get warranty parts to a customer who purchased on of their newer big ticket items?

I am shopping for one of these....

Jeesh! As a MK Powerdrive owner I know lots of people gripe about their foot pedals. I've been contemplating buying one of the new Motorguide Wireless units, but now I think I'll rethink that.

Well, I've owned both kind and I can tell you that there is not a company that comes close to giving the kind of customer service that Minn Kota does.

If I have a choice in the matter, I'd get my money back and buy a Minn Kota. Motorguide products, in my opinion, are very overrated. Minn Kota trolling motors, on the other hand, have out-performed every MotorGuide I have ever owned. And as I said, you just can't beat their customer service.

Do a search on here, if it is working, and see some of the comments about the customer service of Minn Kota.

Re: Dissapointed with Motorguide.

I can say that my Minn Kota never worked right from day one and I got poor service from them with every problem. Now this was about 12 years ago but I now have a Motorguide 52LB Lazer which I got right when they came out and I did have problems also but motorguide next day aired me parts a few times and even upgraded me a motor when the first motor I bought had a defective steering as somebody forgot to mount the top of the motor to the shaft so they replaced it with a 52LB thrust motor even though I only paid for a 37LB thrust model just for the trouble of unbolting it from my boat. The 52lb model came with a plastic gear that was stripping when the motor hit something underwater while turning if you kept forcing the motor to turn but they redid the gear in steel and mailed one to me without even notifying me it was on its way and I did not have the problem. I did have a petal problem and they replaced it twice but then when they came out with the new style rocker petal which sold for $125.00 if I remember right but if you wished to change petal style but they sent me one for free and my motor was out of warranty by then so I must say I am happy with my motorguide and I have used it for I bet 8 years now.

I would call motorguide again and get another person on the phone and see if you can get results.
