Hey guys, i have a couple of questions i'm hoping you can clarify for me.

1) My spark plug wires keep falling out of the distributor because theres not enough room for me to get me hand or any tools in there to push them up nice and snug. Is there a way to remove the distributor or the distributor cap?

2) Should this motor with a brand new 12 pitch prop on a 15' boat be able to pull up a 195lb. water skier? We tried to but the boat just wouldnt move very fast at WOT. Is there something wrong with the motor or is it that hes just to heavy?

Thanks again, and the motor is a 1974 Merc 500 4cylinder.

On my 73, you can remove the dissy cap by undoing a couple of screws on the side of the dissy. One is kinda hard to get to. If those are original plug wires, they thread down into the cap...mine on the dissy cap end are threaded.
Whether it can pull a skier that uh, size, depends on whether the motor is running right. Should be able to if all is right and the boat/passenger load isn't overdone.

I would think trying to pull a nearly 200# person with a 50 horse would be tough. If you could get them out of the water and up on top then it wouldn't take much to keep pulling them, but getting them pulled from the water requires a significant tug.
