Distributor cap, rotor, points for OMC 3.0L

Hey everbody, I have and OMC Cobra 3.0L GM. I need to replace cap rotor, points, condensor. Question: How do I know which parts will match my distributor? They are clueless at the auto parts store (they want a vehicle to match it to) and the selection is very limited at the marine store. What kind of car was this engine used in, and if I get cap etc. for this car will it work on the boat? Thanks for all of the help!

hey pete, go to a napa parts store if ones in your area. they usually have an omc parts catalog & can probably get u what u need.

Pete<br />I would go to a Johnson/Evinrude dealer and get OEM parts. These parts are not that high priced. Do you have a problem with motor or just replacing. If no problem then keep old parts for a emergency spare or buy two sets.

Thanks guys, I haven't been to NAPA yet. I will try that. The engine isn't running yet, the cap rotor etc have some corrosion and gunk, so I thought it would be best to replace these. Thanks again.
