I'm still not sure my distributor is locked on the oil pump shaft....is there an easy way to confirm this? It is hard to tell but i think it could go down a very little more....

Thanks

Your distributor is not "locked" to the oil pump. If it is going in all except for about 1/8" to 1/4" then the output shaft of the oil pump is not lining up with the slot on the bottom of the dist. Use a long flat screw driver to reach down in the hole and turn the shaft until it more closely lines up. Good Luck!! Be patient....

Thanks for the link....

I now have the distributor ALL the way down....is there any way the oil pump shaft is not turning?

Thanks

No, the oil pump shaft does not wobble around, and it is round, & slotted to fit inside the socket of the distributor, with the distributor pin firmly in the slot of the oil pump.
