distributor wiring aq125 , and other ?s

Ive got the service manual and it's wiring diagram. Not clear to me, but my question is this:....
AQ125a...

From the distributor....red and black wires.. red to positive and black to negative on the ignition coil right?

My wiring had been messed up at some point, gonna run some new wires in any case but I did not make good enough notes when I pulled the motor out a few weeks back!

It had the electronic conversion by the previous owner....is the distributor cap the same as the points dist? Also those pertronix units...is there some sort of module that is prone to a lights out failure under the cap? Just wonder if I should have a spare pickup on board or something...?

The wiring is specific to the elec. conv. kit. If you're sure its petronix, try contacting them, otherwise I'm sure lots of the guys on iboats have them.

I'm still running points.

Most guys carry a spare set of points with them in case the electronic fails.

Black (usually) from the distributor goes to the NEG side of the coil.
Key Sw Power goes to the resister if there is one and then to the coil. There may also be a booster wire from the started to the POS side of the coil.
