Have installed a new DUI distributor in my 97 BBC (originally had Thunderbolt V ignition installed). Looking for alternative locations to run 12 ga. power wire.
My options:
1. I can run new wire from ignition side of switch to the battery side of the distributor, but would prefer to find a closer location if possible
2. Can I run a short wire from the slave solenoid to the distributor? I believe the red/purple wire is connected to the small terminal and is on the run side. Yellow/red wire is on the start only side. Red/purple wire is fused and runs from the ignition switch to the alternator, circuit breaker and slave solenoid. If this terminal is hot on the run side, would this be an adequate location to obtain power for the distributor?
3. It has been suggested that I use the existing 12v (+) coil purple wire for power. This wire is not a 12 ga wire (but none of the purple wires in this harness are), and is probably a 14 or 16ga wire. With a run so short, will a 14 or 16 ga wire provide enough voltage to power the distributor?
Any other options are welcome and thanks in advance for any help.
