Related to "Timing" thread below. On my new 3.0 liter engine, the pertrusion on the front of the EST distributor collides with my gas pump! Not being an expert on that distributor (read: dummy), can I assume that all will be ok if I rotate the thing exactly 90 degrees counter-clockwise to clear the pump, reconnect the plug wires clockwise accordingly and recheck the one-degree setting? That would do it in the old days....

Re: Distributor

Yea. you can turn it to where ever you want. You just have to move your wires to the new #1 TDC position.
Basically, pull the distributor and turn the body of the distributor to where you want it. Reinstall the distributor, move your wires to the new location, reset the timing with the light (in base timing mode) and you are good to go.

Just like a points distributor

But, but, but, but, if I "pull the distributor" and turn it, it won't go back in the oil pump slot, will it?

It will if you turn the oil pump shaft to where you want it to be.
