Does anyone know anything about this boat?

I bought an aluminum '84 Sears Gamefisher recently and found that the transom leaks badly. Had some welding done and sealed everything I could reach with 5200. Did a leak test today and it still leaks some but not too badly. Put more 5200 on and will do another leak test tomorrow. If there are still leaks I may just give up on it and sell it for what I can to cut my losses. Live and learn!

Found someone selling the Dixie with a 25hp Johnson and Magic Tilt trailer. It's a fiberglass boat and the seller is willing to give me a water test tomorrow. He has receipts for a recent motor evaluation and replacement parts. The boat and trailer have a current registration. He's asking $1200 OBO.

Don't know the year of boat or motor yet and we didn't discuss price at all.

Any opinions?

TIA,

Barry

Since you're having problems with the tinny (you should've used the Gluvit like I tried to tell you on that other forum), the 'glass skiff might be a better fit for you.

If everything the seller says about the Dixie is true, it doesn't sound like a bad deal for your area.

Re: Dixie Boat Works 13' Malibu

jigngrub.....what can I say? Sometimes I don't listen well. I do believe the welding was necessary, however, as the areas that they welded were really corroded. I saw it for myself at the shop. I'll find out for myself this morning when I leak test it again whether the 5200 did the job. I would rather keep the tinny and not lay out more bucks but I sure don't want a boat that has to be manually bailed while I'm out fishing the Bay.

I appreciate your knowledge and helpfulness and hopefully I've learned something!
