Re: dixie boats???
i have both this dixie boat, and a glastron sv-151. which are two very similiar style boats. both are around the same age (early 1980's), both have been used in the michigan-ohio area all their lifes. they have even both been owned by the same pervious owner. i would say they both have seen about the same use, abuse, weathering, etc. comparing the current physical condition, the dixie boat blows away the glaston. the glastron has a rotten floor and the the hull is full of blisters, many of them are popped. the dixie boat looks like the day it was made. not a problem anywhere. yesterday, while loading up at the launch, a 10-12 yr old boy was looking at my dixie boat and says to his friend "thats in pretty good condition, for an old boat."<br /><br />after doing a little research, i have located and talked to the guy who started the dixie boat company back in the 50's. (really nice guy) it was pretty cool to speak with the person who actually made my boat! they did stop in the 80's, but they are still around offering all the accessories and original parts for dixie boats. based on this, the only dixie boat i have ever seen, these are great boats!
