Hey all

I have had a look around the forums and haven't really found a good answer to my question (mostly because I am unsure of what to call it)
I have a 18.5 foot fiberglass cabin boat with a basic windshield that does nothing. It came with a Bimini top but is too short for a 6 foot 5 guy like myself. I would like to build something basic that will replace my tiny windshield and give me a bit of sun protection at the same time.

My questions are
What materials are good to use for this?
What is the best way to secure it to the fiberglass?

here are some pictures of the same model boat with something like I would like to build.

Would painted plywood be good enough? maybe a coat of thin fiberglass? an perspex for the windows?

Any help is greatly appreciated

Thanks

Firberglass Resin/cloth/gel, may have to make a mold

you would either make it bolt on, or you would bond it to the existing fiberglass

no, you could use thin wood as either a form or build off of that, however its going to be heavy.

I would look up how Ted did his swim platform. Same process.

for windows, UV stabile acrylic

That sort of thing would look good on my boat. Might be a bit large and out of my price range at the moment but I am enjoying reading your progress.
Very impressed
