Hi
I have viewed a couple of posts here about The V4's
Block ground cable being prone to unseen corrosion
causing starting issues. I think I may have a few of these issues since I have had a few dud turns of the key with the starter just spinning real slow, or just a click. Then I tightened the wing nust on the battery and it started fine. Then it did it again.
My question is where is this ground point located on the block so I can pull it off and clean it up.
I looked and I'm not sure where it is.
thanks
H90 1985 EV 90

You need to start at the battery and clean those cables and battery posts, then follow the battery wire to the motor and clean those. Its easy to trace the big battery wires

Horse....a good thing to do is get a can of liquid vinyl and coat the connections on the engine. Helps keep them from corroding. The battery ground is usually located right behind the starter or in some cases, connected to one of the starter mounting bolts.

I know you're waiting on DJ so excuse the intrusion but you may want to consider changing the wing nuts on the battery to nylocks. That will help with the loose deal and perhaps save a regulator.

The ground cable is connected on the port side. Just follow the black battery cable. It goes to a stud. Yes, you are correct in thinking that stud may be loose even though the nut is tight. Remove the nut, tighten the stud, clean everything and replace. I use a nylock nut there too. That stud does seem to work its way loose sometimes.

Good luck!
