Do all Quicksilver Remotes "Beep" when turning the key to the ON position?

I have a Quicksilver Throttle Remote on an '87 Bass Tracker. It's connected to an '87 Mercury Classic Fifty. Isn't the remote supposed to BEEP once when turning the key to start. The reason I ask, is that mine does not. It acts like it maybe wants to (I get a little static out of the small speaker), but doesn't. I just want to make sure my alarm is working in case of overheating. My motor doesn't have Autoblend..it is pre-mix.

I'm not 100% sure which model of Quicksilver Remote I have. It has a square "throttle only" button, and the tilt/trim is a switch on the long part of the handle. Here is an illustration of my Remote from Crowley Marine:

its suppose to sound until you start the motor - bad connection or horn

not entirely true verado....should sound a couple of beeps when you turn the key to 1st pos. lets you know the system is armed and the horn itself is working....if it beeps constant on yours its a module or a sensor on the fritz......just my opinion of course.

The horn does quit over time. Had to replace mine once. It is a $35-40 part from dealers. I have seen the exact same horn in Radio Shack for $12.95.
