Probably a dumb question, but I am going to make a buy in the next 9 months. What months represent the best time for buyers?

This depends which part of the country you are at. Up North the best deals are generally occur before winter sets in in October-November, a lot of boat owners do not want to winterize and dry store their boats so they try to sell them.

I?d venture that a low offer on a used boat made in September would be viewed by the seller as possibly the last offer of the season. I usually try to buy one year-old used boats and shop just after the season?s over. I don?t know about pricing on new boats. You?d think dealerships would have to lower prices to move some inventory during the Winter, though, they may have more pricing restraints than individual sellers.

Harder to sea trial a used one in the winter. The owner has to re-winterize after each demo. On new boats that would not matter as there would be a warranty.

In this area is the time people who choose to sell are putting their boats up for sale. This is the time to do the sea trial/test drive. Like mentioned above, people are going to try to off load their boat before winter comes with the winterization/storage. If you wait 9 months, that will put you into the spring when top dollar is asked.

If I'm selling, I always will wait for the spring to get the most out of the boat. However I'm very patient on waiting for the right moment and time. Good Luck.....SS
