Most 2 cycles dont have head gaskets. If you are talking about a powerhead gasket no.

At least Merc's don't. But I think the V's do have them but the inlines don't. Now OMC, at least used to have them....several years and several models I know of.<br /><br />So to answer your question; I have never blown one when I was an OMC fan nor did I ever hear of anyone blowing one.<br /><br />Mark

They are not replaced on a regular basis. It is possible however that they leak allowing water to get into the combustion chamber. That usually happens as the result of overheating. Replace the water pump impeller and thermostat every couple of years and you won't have to worry about head gaskets.

Aren't there metal o-rings on the head gaskets that fit over the cylinders. I heard these can rust out if you run in salt water and it's recommended that you change them out every three seasons.
