I have a 1984 Searay with an MCM 140 HP 3.0L engine...It came with a 2 barrel carb on it and it had the accelerator pump that was "straight" no t bend at the top...I got another carb I put on the boat that has the "bent" accelerator pump in it...I am having the same issues of not getting enough fuel...just checked the fuel pump...its good, the filter was pretty clogged...not sure if this would cause my problem though...(filled it with water and it takes about 10-15 seconds to drain out through the sides of the filter? Here are the two numbers off the metal tags on the carbs...I need to know which I have to see what rebuild kit to get...thanks...does it matter which one I use? The original was MCM 120/140 1389-8490....straight pump....the one on there now, bent pump is MCM 120/140 1389-9562. Thanks again for all your help.

Its me, the poster...just thought I'd throw this in here instead of a new post....is that how I should do it? Well I have called all the boat stores and no one stocks anything for my engine....I call autozone and they want me to translate this engine to a car....any ideas...I need the fuel pump filter and who knows what else...say my starter went out and I wanted to go to autozone...which car would have this engine...thanks alot.

don't get anything at autozone or any other auto parts store. You NEED to get MARINE specific parts. They can be ordered here on iboats, or many other websites out there.
Besides, a 3.0 is not an automotive engine. It was never in a car or truck. It is a Marine and Industrial motor.
To answer your question. If you have 2 idle mixture ajustment screws, you have a rochestor. if you have 1 screw, then its a mercarb.

But before you touch the engine side fuel system, you really need to test the boats side fuel system. read up on that here;

Never put an auto starter on a boat! :eek:

You need to find the year and engine serial number.
The only auto parts stores that sell anything marine is Napa.

Look here for parts or give them a call,

Go to NAPA and tell them you have a 3.0 marine engine. They will probably be able to look up your parts. I was able to get a new filter for my 4.3 fuel pump from NAPA.. and it might be the same for the 3.0.
