The model number of the used 60hp Evinrude VOR I picked up is E60ELCUC.
From what I've read it's a 1987. I see other model numbers when I look at these year identification charts that include a "T" which seems to imply tilt/trim. The reason I ask is the controls have the trim button (which does nothing )and when I raise the motor up by hand I see a cylinder underneath that looks somewhat like a car shock absorber and it looks just like the power trim unit on my 40hp yamaha. I don't know if it's broke or doesn't exist on this model.

E60TLCUC would be the number for the model with power tilt and trim.

Go to the parts diagrams on the BRP Parts website and you will be able to id all the bits and pieces of your engine.

Website seems a bit sluggish at present so try Shop.Evinrude.com instead

Sounds more like a tilt assist cylinder to me. I've heard of them, but never seen one. Tried to find one for my 55hp 2cyl, but never could find a used one. New ones were too much money for me, if they exist still. It would look like a shock. If you have TnT, you will have a hydraulic cylinder somewhere also.

Have a similar cylinder on my '73 65hp, it is not a tnt but is just the tilt assist. Amazingly it will hold my motor in the up position by itself.:D
