Do I have to take the prop off before I take the gearbox off to change the impeller?

Ive yet to find a motor where it is necessary to remove the prop, but a little more info on your motor wouldnt hurt either(year/hp)

But I'd yank it, grease it, to be sure when you DO want it off..it does..

Scaaty makes a good point. Sometimes fishing line [maybe even yours] can get wrapped up in ur prop. and eventually destroy ur seals so as a preventative measure probly not a bad idea. Flip side of the coin-start messing with stuff that don't need fixing!!! U know what I'm saying!!!

Makes sense for the time it takes to check it out down there while you are doing the impeller.
