Im back AGAIN!!! with the 1972 johnson seahorse. Well i was out in the bay cruising in the keys, and my motor decided to cut out a cylinder, tested by pulling plug wires. So i brought it back to the house on just one cylinder. When i shut the motor off, I tried to start it again and it wouldnt pull over like it was ceased. So pulled the flywheel and found that a screw had come out of one of the ignition coils and got caught up in the flywheel. It shredded one of the coils, and damaged the finish surface that rides around the coils. Just wondering if those can be resurfaced and just adjust the coils out more. I will put in pics.

Flywheel looks ok to me, just clean it up to remove the burrs stuck to it, replace the coil and try it, may be ok.

You may want to use star lock washers under those screws to keep that from happening again.

The funny thing is is that it had one. I wa thinking about just threadlocking all six of the screws. What do you think?

They don't come out if properly installed and tightened. Somebody probably left it loose. There are a bazillion of those things running around that never came out over the last 50 years. Check all the other screws too--if he left one loose, he may have left another loose.

I second this. That screw was left loose and came out. I wouldn't use any thread lock on those screws. You may not be able to get it back out.

I think it's amazing that the loose screw didn't waste your other coil too.
