Took my boat out, with the motor all the way down tilted up a little or a lot it will not stop bouncing, even when the lake is like glass......

I tryed shifting weight to the front but that didnt help at all.....

Its to the point where I cant go over 15MPH with out it bouncing uncontrollably, and it seems very dangerous to drive it, any body have any ideas?

I dont know what could be causing this?

It did it with the Hydro foil on and with if off......

Where else to go with it?

Re: Do I need smart tabs?

We need to see a pic that shows your motor and the bottom and the transom together. We need to see the height of the propeller, and the plate just above it, relative to the bottom. Must be a good pic for us to be able to actually see what we need to. If that pic shows normal then you probably have a hull problem or some other abnormalilty. I think I am hoping it is too high.

Either way I am guessing trim tabs one size larger than recommended will make her livable.

I was having the same problem with my boat. I installed Smart Tabs, and it does not bounce anymore. I can also get it on plane at about 10 mph. Before I installed the smart tabs, the boat planed at about 20 mph. There is a lot of information about smart tabs in the iboats forums. Here is a link advertising them.

Re: Do I need smart tabs?

We are supporters of Smart Tabs here, but it is good to get the hull as right as possible too. Tabs will definitely help, Smart or Hydraulic. I am curious if the first post here is still true: http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=412965

Can you still stop the porpoising with trim all of the way down (in)? Doesn't sound like it here, but did in the previous thread. If so then tabs are a no-brainer. If not, then I still think some weight shift is in order, and probably tabs too.
