Parts showed up a few days earlier than expected, so I started tearing into the water pump replacement on the '73 motor today. 85HP Powershift II. I got whole kit with replacement plastic housing, to replace the old cast housing. Turns out the impeller actually looked pretty good once I got it out (what I thought were cracks in the rubber were just wrinkles), but the housing has some significant grooving in it, so it it needed to go anyways.
Problem is that I can't find a single photo, video, or service procedure on how the pump goes together on the dual tube pumps with the plastic housing, ring and separate wear plates...everything I'm finding is for the single tube model with the stainless "cup" where the outside ring and top plate are formed as one unit.
Am I supposed to somehow seal the outside ring to the top or lower wear plates when I'm assembling this thing?
