Do I need water pump alignment pins?

I've got an OEM rebuild kit ordered and reading the manual it says on early model Alpha 1 Gen II outdrives to use Water Pump Alignment Pins (91-821571A1) to align the water pump housing. Is my outdrive an early model and do I need the pins? I want everything on hand when I start the job because I want this boat in the water.

You don't need any fancy tools, I like to use the alignment pins as it keeps the gasket in place.
Just get a couple of metric bolts and cut the heads off. Instant special tool.

I have a set of alignment pins I never use, the bolts work fine.

Thanks for the replies. What metric bolt size do I need to get?

Same "size" as the bolts holding thing together except a little longer!
