Well...like I have explained before...I like to do all of the stuff on a project....but some of the things I can do better than others...such as the case with the wood wedge I just had Tiller make...yea...I could have done it...got the tools...but I don't like to do that sort of thing...not my gig....so..here is another project that would be cool for someone who likes this stuff...me...I would rather have someone else tackle it. I want the engine shroud painted on the 40 hp Lark III. I am not lookin for show room finish...spray bomb it for all I care....also do not want to spend a fortune on it either. Just a nice finish that looks good from 20' or so!!! if anyone is interested...please speak up!! won't need it until spring of '07. There are no cracks, apears all of the goodies on it can come off..I would imagine...sand and paint....just would like it close to original as possible. To me, the colors appear to be black, white, and there are remnants of a red vinyl pinstripe.
here is the shroud in question:

You better move that engine away from that bowl before it gets eaten by whatever you're feeding in there!

I pulled the powerhead on my 115 today. Now that is my winter project.

Whether you do it yourself or have it done, make sure it is done right. When I'm doing a full repaint I like to degrease and remove the old finish with oven cleaner, then hose it off real good and dry it. Then hit it with a fresh coat of self-etching primer and finish with whatever paint you prefer...I've had real good luck with the Duplicolor primer and enamels. If you don't use the self-etching primer, the top coat won't stick and will eventually bubble off or flake off. Don't think I'd use the oven cleaner on a fiberglass cowl however. That's a nice looking old Lark, you can beat the old iron.

That is funny...
I have 6 dogs...two labs...two cockers...two chi-wow-was...all eat out of the same dish..or in this case the bottom of a plastic 55 gal drum!!
I guess that's the woes of working for a pet food manufacturer...have to support them!....or the woes of a wife who keeps buying dogs, go through 52 lb bag of Pedigree every 5-7 days....thank goodness I get half of it back through work!!
