I have a chance to get a used michigan wheel prop from a mercury. The size and pitch are the same as mine. Does the part # need to match my props number to use it on a merccruiser?

The Michigan part number needs to be the correct one for your Merc then it will work.

I moved this to the prop section. Basically, it needs to be a 15 spline, but almost all Merc props interchange between OBs, Alphas and Bravo 1s. That does not mean it will work well though, there are some OB designs that just don't work well with most I/Os. Always worth a try and you can sell it if it sucks . . .

Re: do part numbers matter?

thanks for the info.
A guy on Ebay was selling it for $20. I asked him if it was # 031026 and he said yes. I couldnt quite see the serial numbers that clear so I looked it up on my iphone and then clicked the pic. I can enlarge pic big and clear with my iphone. The guy was a big liar. The serial # on his was 0442**. I dont know why people want to be so dishonest to make a buck.
I am now ordering my prop from the iboat site.

Ayuh,.... That's Correct, but I'll add,...
The props for the 4", mid-sized gearcase outboards will mount to the bigger outboards,+ I/Os, Perfectly,......
But Ventilate, Badly...
