Hello,i have a 366fs 17'javelin fish and ski boat with a 115 johnson.I was wondering if adding a ski pole or ski pylon would make it eazier for beginning skiers to get up.I also heard it is better on your boat and motor.

It changes the pull point and load on your boat. Basic physics. It will save on stress on your transom and reduce the initial load on the motor as the skier is getting up.

I doubt it will have any effect on a new skier. I would recommend that the new skier use skies that have a wide base at the rear. Look up a competition ski and you will see the rear is narrow which makes it very tippy.

Save your cash and just get good skis for a beginner.

Bob

I am in the process of buying a ski pole and it seems as though (in addition to changing the pull point as mentioned by bob_vt, which I like) it raises the height of the rope which makes it easier for different types of pulling, wake board and knee boards. The adverts seem to indicate that "tricks" are easier, you can get more air, etc.

My $0.02.

Safe boating to all.

Cheers.

emp.

We have taken our 1973 VIP out quiet a bit. We use a tow harness on the transom. If you can afford it GET A POLE!!! For beginners it is no good, but once they get good jumps are impossible without a pole. I can get three feet off the wake only to be pulled right back down due to the rope being pulled inches above the water...
