Emptying the fuel from the carbs before storing is the best mathod of keeping the carbs from gumming up.

Draining carbs is another rather controversial topic. The residue left in the carb after draining is what gums them up. Treating the fuel with a stabilier, then running the engine until the mixture has reached the carbs will ensure the carb stays full and protected during storage. No air -- no contamination.

if it aint there it cant gum.
however if you dont drain the rest of the fuel system the gummy crud enters the carb at the next start up.
either treat thye fuel or drain the ENTIRE fuel system.
