I think they work...They do not send the deer running what they do is allow the deer to be aware of your presence and that allows them to track you with there ears as opposed to running out and getting caught in the headlights.

Do they work? Well, they are good for separating your money from your wallet. Having been in the autobody business for over 25 years, I couldnt count the number of cars and trucks I repaired with deer hair in the grill right behind a pair of those things. I even repaired an ambulance that was on its way to an accident with its lights flashing and sirens going that hit a deer. If you dont think a deer hears your car or truck coming and which way it is coming from you dont know deer. They have no concept of the speed in which a vehicle is moving, plus, the headlight blind them. If you do not want to hit a deer at night, turn off your headlights, and drive real slow.

As soon as one bug get into the whistle mechanism, they don't do anything. Thats on the assumption they do anything in the first place. 5 years/3 deer - not a shot fired.<br /><br />Almost as deadly as Ted Kennedy's Oldsmobile.

I am not sure how effective they are, but I will say my old insurance company (Snake Farm)used to give them out.

Whenever I worked at the Sherrifs Office we installed them on all of our cars due to a deputy hitting a deer. This was the first time in many years that it had happened in the dept. In the next year 3 deer were hit by county cars that had the whistles. Now none of the cars have them, and no more deer have been hit. Go figure....

A little off subject but a lady here in Florida near Tallahassee has gone to the county commission wanting the deer crossing sign near her home removed<br />The reason.....to many deer are crossing near the sign and getting hit

Yes, they do work. I know someone that migrated here from Vietnam in the mid-70’s. He put one on a station wagon and drove around Lake Almanor/Lassen Nat’l Forest in No. Calif. He would bag 2 or 3 deer a night…but he consumed everything he got. <br /><br />Yes, it really is a true story!

Don't believe in them!<br /><br />Think about what it is. its a whistle, the air comes from the vehical moving forward. <br /> At what speed does the car have to be going to create a whistle at the "alarming" frequency of a deer? now how fast must you go in to a head wind? and a tail wind? and a cross wind it won't work at all.<br /> Pro099876 dog also teachs that a response to a bell/whistle has to be learned, unfortunatly on lerning curve is limited to one event,on Dead deer the lesson is lost.

a cure, I live in a farm district that virtually bans huntting, i have a herd on my front lawn. i have had a few near misses in twenty years yet my curb has a fresh kill weekly.<br /><br />I drive no faster than 35 miles an hour with high beems, the right side beam is slightly focused to the curb. <br /> If you see one, there are others, "herd" key word, the one watching you allows the others to run accross the road at full gallop. to join it.

When my Dad was alive he had a set on his car and called them " Deer Atracters" Said they worked good because he and mom would go for a ride every night and after he put them on they seen more deer.
