is it necessary to bag the prop for the winter if the boat is left outside?

I was going to do it but I'm not sure how to do it properly.
any tips?

I didn't want any water getting in the bag and making it worse because the bag held the water around the prop.

I only saw a few of the boats up at the marina where the owners bagged the prop. I don't know if these guys plan on doing but just haven't got to it yet.

I don't see any need to bag a prop.It would seem to me it would be worse than being left in the open. The bag is sure to trap condensation from temperature changes.Depending on your location and value of the prop I would be inclined to remove the prop for winter. They do sometimes dissappear.

As a part of winterization, I remove the prop, check for fishing line and other debris, inspect, clean, regrease and reassemble. I've never placed a bag on a prop.

As mentioned above, props tend to disappear if left out in the open over the winter. If my boat wasn't secure in my garage for the winter then I would remove it just in case.

so, I went up and removed the prop from my boat.

I forgot to bring my gatecard , so I had to park the car outside and walk in. I was just thinking about what you guys said about props disappearing.

I was thinking , if someone was really trying to steal it , there would have been no way I would have known 'til next year. The marina was deserted.

anyone could walk in and no one would have been the wiser. I'm feeling a bit paranoid about the security of this place now. I'm gonna have to see if they have any security cameras, just to give myself a bit of peace of mind.
