Re: do you do this?

It was really my wifes suggestion, she didn't want me to "dissapear" into the garage while she was watching Oprah.

Re: do you do this?

I have rebuilt carburetors on the dining room table and the basement rec room (that I remodeled a year and a half ago) has had a few boat projects go on. Paints can be used as long as they don't smell.
Its great isn't it. The ex-wife wouldn't have any of that even though I built that house she kept too.

After coming back from being painted, most the assembly of my 28hp was done in the den floor. You've got to work on carpet with fresh paint afterall. :)

I was wondering where you had gotten your decals from. I should have known. :)
What colour base paint is that? It's a little hard for me to tell from the pictures because the glare.

Oh yeah, I have defintaley been there. Now that I have a garage, that is where I do that stuff, but before it was not uncommon to have the wife come home to engine parts on the kitchen table..

Re: do you do this?

just gloss black for the cowling Paul. The badging is all the original Evinrude stuff. But it was pretty banged up. So it's been repainted in gold, then the highlights in gloss black, white, and red. The paints for the highlights are the Humbrol brand hobby paints.

Dave, I would have done it in the bedroom, but hoisting a 40hp engine through the window was just gunna take way to much beer to think about.
In fact, I drank to much beer to be bothered cleaning enough room in the bedroom for the motor stand....

Yes, before I had a garage I always had mountain bikes tore apart in the kitchen and dinette, the tool box sat on a cart like a greasemonkey buffet. Before that I built a Chevy V8 in my bedroom back in college.

Lark that hood looks good! You going to put a clear coat over the emblems?

Last winter I copied the cabin carpeting and cut the replacement pieces on the kitchen floor (the only room large enough) My wife had a fit and is still waiting for the floor guy to come fix the vinyl I accidentally put a couple of tiny little nicks in... you'd think I ripped the floor up or somthing.... women!!

Re: do you do this?

In the early 1980's I rebuilt the top end (rings on up) of a '66 Triumph Bonneville in the back bedroom of my rented house. Laid down a sheet of plywood and rolled the bike right through the back door.
Landlord came by once, never said a word.
We rented that house for two years, when we gave notice that we were moving, landlord begged us to stay. Said we were the best tenants he ever had.
LOL!
