my boat has a 280hp rating and, I'm thinking of buying a used 1987 275 johnson, would that be recommended. the boat 21' 78 STAMAS came with a 200 thats currently blown....thanks
Sure. It's within the max rating. <br /><br />More hp generally equals more speed, but also more fuel consumption. You might be surprised that a lower hp rating with the right prop could give you very similar performance, better economy, lower inital cost and possibly cheaper maintenance. The original 200 obviously worked.
