Re: Do you ride IN or On a boat?
After waterskiing, "get in the boat" (in/out).
According to the gospel of Apocalypse Now, "Never get off the boat" would imply you want to be On the boat (on/off).
I ride IN a car; ON a bike; ON a pontoon boat, but for our typical tin boats...????
On the chair in the boat? ARRRRGGGHHH!?!?!?!
Somewhere I saw that if it's enclosed, you'd be IN it. But a boat is enclosed and yet, not. Unless of course you're in a yacht...on a yacht. Ayyyye??
Oh no...the quote is:
Willard: [voice-over] "Never get out of the boat." Absolutely g88d+mn right! Unless you were goin' all the way... Kurtz got off the boat. He split from the whole f'n' program.
And so we have BOTH implications of in/out, on/off.
