DOA after changing ignition switch

My boat has no power anywhere after I just replaced my ignition switch. It is an OMC ignition switch for a 1989 Johnson 140 outboard. It was working fine just before the swap as I tilted the motor. I replaced the wires terminal by terminal to ensure that I did not mix anything up. I did not disconnect the battery before doing the work as I suspect I should have and while swapping the switches I think I heard the crackling of electrical current. Have I shorted something out? I checked all fuses on the dash and they are intact. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!

But, what is there to smoke? There are no computers or chips, right?

Check for a fuse inline from the battery to the dash. Check the O/B, under the cowling, for an ignition fuse. I'm betting on a single 25-40 amp fuse feeding the dash.

Ok. So I've deducted that I have power on the leading side of the solenoid switch but not on the back side. I bypassed the switch and got the starter to turn over. Now, the wiring diagram shows a fuse but I can't seem to find it??
