We are lucky enough to keep our boat in one of the marinas that is pretty easy going and just wanted you to enjoy the space you got.

We recently moved our 30 footer to a 48 foot slip and used the extra space to build a 16 x 18 deck that gives us a ton of room to enjoy. The joists are secured by movable stainless steel brackets which snap in to the dock construction. Total build time was around 18 man hours including the bar.

One thing is for certain, it really has given us a lot more room to relax and enjoy our slip/boat.

Why would you ever go home??

Nice job on the deck. My marina isn't nearly as lenient, but I understand their thinking.

Re: Dock/Deck

I take it you're on Chickamauga Lake @ Chattanooga. Your deck is absolutely great, and I'm sure you have the best happy hours in the marina.

You're in the premier inland cruising in the U.S., and the scenery in East Tennessee hardly gets any better. This is a great place to vacation--and still a secret to boaters in other states.

With such a deck, I assume you'll seldom even have to put any fuel in your boat--or leave the marina. In that case, your deck was a good investment.

I dropped a full tank in her yesterday ahead of weekend cruising. We are at Hales Bar 34 miles south of Chattanooga and below Lake Chic. Chickamauga has way too much traffic for me, down on our end it is very light and easy to enjoy. Last year on labor day we went four day out and only passed four boats a day and Chic would not offer that.

I do agree the TN River is an awesome place to boat.

Thanks guys for the comps, it is an awesome little spot to come back too. We're have the Shell's by the Shore Shellfish Salute to the Troops tonight with about 25 folks coming to enjoy oysters, crawfish and shrimp.

Besides isn't all this about friends and family?

That is awesome. It's cool to see a marina realizing that it's all about keeping the tenants happy. What a great idea and you guys did an awesome job building it. I'm with the above poster, "Why would you ever want to go home"?

The bar is always open for you captain. I have a Salty Captains Corner. I went up yesterday and did some painting on the deck while I prepped the boat for tonights guests.

Nice spread, Capt Red!

Now....I've been down the Tennessee River several times and saw nothing like that going on. Guess I made the wrong turn at Pickwick.

Re: Dock/Deck

That's the kind of marina everyone should have! Fantastic setup, Red.

I take it you'll have to dismantle the deck when you vacate the slip? How easy will that be?
