dock problem

well, i splashed today!!! felt good to be out after the rebuild. she perred like a kitten and i was getting around 12 -15 psi on the water pressure gauge at all times.<br /><br />ok, so i put the boat in near my brothers, and take her to her berth. i pull into the dock, and the weight on the front line is missing. the only thing i can find is a half of cinder block, but i think it may be to heavy.<br /><br />here is a crappy drawing trying to give you a picture. the ropes are in red. each rope has a pully with a weight on the end.<br /><br />

<br /><br />the rear wieght is fine, its the front one i have to fix. is it too heavy? would using a smaller weight help it shoft back to center?<br /><br />sorry if i dont know how to explaing it all that well<br /><br />tom

You got it! - - - Your description is confusing as well as to what you would like to accomplish - at least to me.

Thats perfect! <br /><br />Although your linier positon could be a little closer to square vs. the axis. And the reverse angle might be a bit tighter. And you might want to consider a longer transfer along the parimeter diaganial. <br /><br />If the floating transverse average is more than 10%, that may pose a problem too. But you can always compensate with the rotating pressures.

So Dhadley, you must be speaking of rotating the air pressures in the trailer spare tire???? You had me going for a few seconds.<br /><br />Wraenking- You are tying up by using weights on the end of lines going through pulleys, trying to keep things centered and maybe allowing for varying water levels (like tides?)??? Trying to get the gist of the question here. I have no experience tying up at a mooring or even any extended docking. I'm not sure I'd feel secure with that sort of arraingement,(especially with cinder blocks as weights!) although the idea of allowing for variation of water level is interesting. Let us know if we're on the right track here then I'll step out of the way and hopefully a real skipper can give an intelligent answer.

well, i went to the dock today and replaced the pld front line with new stuff. since i did not have my boat in the water last year, i could not remember form two years ago how the front rope was set up. i took the day off, and figured out that the weight was fine, i waited until low tide, and tightened the front rope on the dock side until it sat where i wanted, this way it wont be hanging form the dock when its low tide. this is hard to explain, so i will post pics of the setup soon.<br /><br />thanks for the answers, they were ammusing at best.
