Docking lights/depth sounder

I am looking at a small sounder that will fill the empty hole in my dash. I found one made by hawkeye that will fit. The model number is DF1000D-B and it comes with a in hull sounder. Does anybody have this model, and how well does the in hull sounder work compared to being mounted on the transom.

I don't have a Hawkeye, but have a Humminbird 610 that I think uses the same size hole. I have the in-hull transducer. Mine works great.
