O2 sensors do wear out. On some vehicles, they are a maintenance item at 60K miles.

I would think that a bad O2 sensor would show a check engine light. put a OBDII code reader on it it might tell you where the bad one is at

Re: DODGE Ram 1500 V-8 Magnum

Having driven for the better part of a year with a bad O2 sensor (94 GMC 3/4 ton), I can tell you they may not set a code. Other than takingit to a shop for diagnosis, your only option would be to buy a code scanner. A code reader (one that makes the check engine light flash) is not really that helpful. The scanner actually lists out what the sensors are doing and from that, you could tell which one is bad. But the scanners are not cheap and it will be cheaper to have a shop test it.

I'm trying to find a scanner on EBAy but my truck is ODB I and they are harder to come by.

Thanks to all guess I will have to take it to the shop dealer won’t $65.00 to hook up to it but I guess its better then spending $400.00 to replace all of them. :(
Thanks for the help

If you simply need your code read, go over to auto zone they will hook it up and read it for free.

TackleWasher, there's a OBD-1 on ebay as you read this reply, comes with the Chrysler Cable.

AutoXray - XP240 OBD I AutoScanner
Item number: 2437971203

Pointer94, thanks for tip on AutoZone,

I read the codes on my pre-OBD-11 Fords with a paper clip, it pointed out which O2 sensor was bad.
:)

DK9, Click this link. These guys speak Dodgese better then I can. BTW, I'm still wondering what CODE-C is. I inadvertantly turned the ignition switch to on,while pressing and holding the tripodometer reset, and letting it go....the dash went wacky for about a minute, all lights flashing, all gauges dancing, and ending with the milage reading "code-c", then back to normal....Scared me to tears! I tohught I broke my toy!

thanks 12 footer this one seems to match what i am going thru.but the light does not stay on all the time it surges and bad gas milleage when the light is on then goes to normal when light is off

*51 Oxygen sensor stuck at lean position (Bob Lincoln wrote: may be tripped by a bad MAP sensor system causing a rich condition, and the O2 sensor trying to compensate. The O2 sensor may still be good. The MAP assembly consists of two pieces, the valve and the vacuum transducer (round plastic unit with cylinder on top and both electrical and vacuum connections) - If you get hot rough idle and stalling, especially on deceleration, accompanied by flooded engine and difficulty restarting, that can be a bad MAP sensor causing the O2 sensor to try to compensate. If you get poor cold driveability, stumbling and bucking, and acceptable warm driving with poor gas mileage (a drop of 10 mpg or more), that is usually the O2 sensor. [Webmaster note: MAP sensors seem to die regularly.]
