I feel I should know this owning a boat but I don't.

I want to set the timing on my 'rude following "Joe Reeves WOT timing procedure" but not sure if my motor has solid state ignition.

What type of ignition components are on this motor and when did they start solid state ignition on 'rudes?

The last boat I owned, many years ago, had points and condenser.:)

Thanks

You do not have points, so I guess you could call your ignition system solid state.
It varried on different engines, but I think the middle to late 70's when they went away for the point type ignition.
Look below for a break down of your ignition system.

Checked timing this morning per Jim's instructions. It was set on 19 degrees BTDC and that is what it calls for. What is throwning me off is according to Jim,s procedure if set at 19 degrees using his instructions my motor was running at 23 degrees WOT, true?

I set it at 15 degrees BTDC according to Jim,s insturctions which should give me 19 degrees at WOT. Fired it up on muffs and seems to run good at idle. Taking it out on the river Sat. morning so I'll know a little more then.
