does anyone know if this motor has an alternator for charging the battery ? I want to put a fish finder on but not sure if I need to put a separate battery onboard ?

I believe its called a stator and if it was original elec. start it has charging capabilities if not and it was manual start there is no charging. a Fish finder (sonar) draws so little it should run easily off one batt.
Even if the motor can charge the batt, it takes lots of running to charge a batt.
I have a 35 manual start that I converted to elec start,I didnt bother installing a charger,I fish alot can run the sonar, seperate GPS for days and it doesnt lower the batt charge so the motor wont start.I charge it once a week. I fish every day summer time some times morning and evening.

Not totally true. My 1973 40hp has OEM electric start but no charging system. I'd take a look at a parts diagram for your engine or just check on your engine yourself.

The 1980 35hp electric start should have a stator, whether it's working or not is another question.
