Hi all -- I'm looking at a 2004 Yamaha 15hp 2 stroke. I've never run a 2 stroke outboard -- does it smoke a lot less than others given the 100:1 ratio?

Any thoughts appreciated.

using synthetic oil reduces smoke.

Never run 100:1 but you would think it would have to smoke less than 50:1 being half as much oil.

I would not run that engine at 100:1 ever not enough oil

Does the manufacturer recommend 100::1 fuel mix? Normally they do not, because when you run a 100::1 mix, the engine smokes a lot less than a 50::1 mix, until it seizes up. It then doesn't smoke at all!

Sorry, I couldn't resist.
