FD-220

Nice find! and welcome to iboats!

Sounds like you're giving us the model and production number that is stamped on the transom brace. Which would be a very early build. For reference my 1968 FD boat is stamped FD-15398.

If the boat capacity tag is on the boat we would like to know what it says. Also if the boat was, is or will be a remote or tiller steer.

You can also contact Alumacraft with your stamped number and they'll give you information on your boat and the year built.

I think but don't know for sure 1955 was the first year for the FD. So I figured your boat to be a '54 or '55, just wanted to know more about it. My best boating memories as a kid is of my uncles new '56 FD, that's why I have mine. He bought it without the front deck, installed a very nice homemade console for remote steering and wore out a new 35 hp motor from decades of use. It now has a 25 hp and it also scoots.

For best all around performance keeping hp. as tagged is ideal. The boat boat is solid and light. Congratulations on getting it!

I shouldn't show this, because no one should ever do.
The design and build of these boats made for powering them to your limitations.
