my wife and I are researching different high speed connections and I was interested in wildblue. My boss has it but is using an old slow computer so its like putting spinners on a pinto for him,not really worth it. I was wondering about good bad etc. does it loose service like sat. tv when it rains hard ? we will be dumping dsl and home phone if we make the jump.

High-speed?? now that's a misnomer.......you're current DSL is as fast as the advertised speed for WildBlue...... Wildblue states " Transfer speeds of up to 1.5Mbps download and 256Kbps upload." Your current DSL might be UP TO 1.5 download and 128 upload, depending on the quality of your phone line.
BTW, any Sat based system will loose connectivity with heavy cloud cover, it's the nature of the beast.

after I posted here I called about it and found out that. thanks for the reply thou. I found a deal on cable for 29.95 for the first 2 months then 39.95(middle speed faster than dsl) then on. and we dont need to have cable tv and can keep the dish. so in the end it costs $10 more a month for internet but we will save by not having a home phone/dsl. and my wife just told me to order a new lap top for myself :D.
