V4SL-12 shows up as a 1960 75hp. Does this engine have magneteo or battery ignition?

Timing on these engines is set by the point gap 0.020". On the battery system The cam on the distributor shaft should have reference mark showing where the point rubbing block should be when the point gap is at its widest.
The magneteo system is set similarly. There are some timing reference marks on the flywheel/block and on the distributor pulley/bracket. These marks are used for installing the timing belt. Carb seting were 1 1/2 from lightly seated. Once adjusted seperately for best idle the syncronization link between the two can be hooked up.
OH the Heck with it GET A SERVICE MANUAL, it will explain it and show pictures.

They did not set the timing on these engines like that. It is set by setting the points to open at a particular spot. Get a manual cause it isn't easy to explain it without the neccessary pictures and diagrams. Regarding the model/year, if it is a 1960 75hp it would have a magneteo ignition. the 61 thru 67 could have either magneteo or battery ignition.

e-bay? If it used a belt it was a generator, alternators were under the flywheel
