I have been trying to install a new spring in a recoil assembly. I have assembled everything and wound the spring 3-4 revelutions, and retracted the rope. If I pull the rope slowly, I get to a point where the spring end (loop) willl slip off the post that retains it (begining of the spring - largest diameter end). Why would the spring keep slipping off the post>

Does this always happen if one pulls the cord all the way out?

Thanks

Re: Does anyone know

No, it should never happen. In fact it should not be possible to even come off the pin without seriously distorting something. Is the pin bent?

It should come to the end of the rope before coming to the end of the spring.

Something has to be bent or damaged somehow. We can't tell you what it is without seeing it.

BTW, what motor are we working on here??
