I have two questions if anyone can answer them.
1. If the rectifier goes bad can I fry the electronics?
2.If I remove the timer base do I have to "re-adjust it", if yes than how?

not usually but its possible, and as long as you dont mess with the link rod adustment it will fall back in place. but now 2 questions for you. what "electronics" do ya think are fried and why are you removing the timer assy ?

Re: does anyone read these

My friend had an extra timer base and stator off a motor he no longer has but we knew it worked so for the hell of it I threw it on to see if it changed anything.
Three out my four coils are not firing and when I was cruising at speed my volt meter was well above 14 volts, somewhere like 16-17. I thought that maybe if its overcharging it could have fried some of my electronics. I don't know. I took my only good coil and made sure both power packs would fire it off therefore eliminating my powerpacks,(atleast I think so)
I read in a tech section of outboardparts.com that if the rectifier is bad it would give me similar problems that i'm getting.
Why would 3 coils just go bad and one wouldn't?
