Does anyone shoot High Power Rifle? I am considering a nice Rock River 223 to compete with.

I am going to try one out and hopefully I still have what it takes for 600 meters. I used to shoot on teams in the service.

Colt does just fine

5.56mm will only let you complete in small bore high power, were you looking for large bore?

I am looking to compete in the service rifle catagory and the AR with a 1 in 8 twist will support a heavier bullet. If I want reach out to 1000 yards I probably would have gone with a Garand. The 223 has been sweeping the 600 meter matches and beating the 308 for accuracy at that distance.

My father has a colt ar15 a3, target barrel.. and I can hit the 600 yd plate while prone using the bipod.... I'll hit the plate 7-10 times with factory ammo.

I would say it's plenty accurate... you'll have um, uh, er.... a blast !

I got to play with a Rock River Arms NM A4 and Bushmaster last weekend. I am pleased to report that my old eyes can still use a peep sight and I loved the RRA A4.

Actually my wallet is in danger! The RRA are costly.

A friend ordered a Rock River Arms NM A4 a few weeks ago.
He was told he could only get it in .223 (at the time)
When it came in it was in the 308 cal.
Oh man as a retired sniper he was in 7th heaven.
He now owns both.
And is about 4 grand lighter in the wallet.

Since when can a person even see a target at 1000 yards?

I have yet to order mine and I have mixed emotions.... I guess I would be thrilled in 308 but the ammo is twice that of the 223 to reload!

I used to shoot the 1000 yard target but that was with a scoped sniper rifle. I actually can see more at 1000 yards than I can at 3" witout my glasses!
