Does my engine have a batt charger?

Hi guys. 1983 200hp Johnson, does my engine charge my battery? I am thinking about adding a small stereo and was wondering.<br /><br />I have 2 batteries. thnks

manual cranking a 200 horse with a dead battery would take a mighty man.

....but to check if it is charging properly or not, with motor off, measure DC voltage across battery terminals, should be about 12.6 volts<br /><br />with motor running, do same and should be higher, over 13 volts<br /><br />if it gets lower with motor running, you need a new rectifier
