1983 Mercury 40hp Serial #6141789.
Does my motor have a thermostat? The motor in the driveway with ear muffs was peeing warm, then extremely hot, then warm again. I put it in lake and it was very erratic on peeing. Sometimes it would, sometimes it wouldn't. Before dropping the foot I am assuming I need at least an impeller. I was just wondering whether I should replace a thermostat, poppet, etc. while troubleshooting? I ordered an impeller and a thermostat from iboats but now I can't seem to find the thermostat in my Seloc manual. I am guessing it doesn't have one. Anything else I should check while replacing the impeller?
