does the fly wheel have to come off? to test can a stator and trigger be test

I have a 1990/90hp Force(906X90C) and it was running fine when, all of sudden, it's WTO power dropped way down (3800rpm from 5400rpm).It is giving me some grief when it is started too. It has compressions of #1(120) #2(122) #3(125) the carbs are fresh and so is the gas. I took my timing light and tested the spark plug wires and #1 were fine but #2 was almost non-exexistentAccording to the SeSeaLocanuel I need to test the StStatornd the Trigger. I thought it might be the coil. I am going to fallow the mamanualut I want to know if I can check them without hahavingo remove the fly wheel and some coconfirmationn my enendeavorsIs this a common plight of StStatorr

You should have access to all the wires without reremoving the flflywheel.

There is 3 blue plastic boxes with the spark plug wires(what are these?) and 2 blue boxes that are next to them(what are these?) Who make these and how can I order them. How do I find out what kind of Stator and trigger I have? I am so unknowledgeable of a outboard. Please help! You guys are great!!

3 blue boxes contain the coils.
2 bigger blue boxes are the cd(capacitor discharge) boxes.

In a nut chell: stator generates current and supplies it to the cd box. Trigger tells the cd box when to fire, sending the current to the coil, then on to the plug.

Mercury still makes the coils and cd boxes, expensive.
Aftermarket options are available at a substancial savings, maxrules.com
Only way to really know what you have for a stator or trigger is to inspect them. I would bet you have the originals in there yet.
If you are going to work on this motor, I suggest the Clymer repair manual.
