To get tighter turns you need to increase the amount of movement of the drive to the transom, in the horizontal plane. Changing the trim angle (spacers in the trim rams) only changes the angle of the prop to the surface of the water (vertical plane). If, however, that angle is too much, then as you turn the propeller will ventilate, suck air, you'll lose bite, the boat will slow and the engine will rev.<br /><br />Hope that helps.............

I am referring to putting in Mercruiser, aluminum 1" 2" 3" up to 4" spacers, between the upper and lower units. Do THEY make a difference? And why are the made?

There's No Such Things.......<br />There are some aftermarket suppliers that will Build Shorter lower units for High Performance app.s, but these are Only for the Bravo units....<br /><br />I'm quite Sure that the X dimension of your boat is Fine....<br /><br />We've been trying to tell you.......<br />You Need a Better Prop..........<br />This has been covered in Your Other Thread......
