1991 115 hp evenrude-was idleing very low,I found on iboats how to idle up,(screw on linkage from spark advance arm to timer base..) I put boat on muffs and adjusted idle to 1200 rpms, will do final adjustment on idle when I take to lake today..My question is does this effect timing?I dont want to blow the motor up!! thanks for your help!!!

Turning the screw changes the idle timing only, not the full throttle timing.

You really don't need to worry about the degrees of actual idle timing. Set the idle on the engine so that it idles between 650 and 750 rpm's, when the boat is sitting normally in the lake and it is in forward gear. The deeper the boat floats in the water, the more prop backpressure, the more idle timing you need. All boats are slightly different.
